Session 1: The Drive for Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Belonging
Saturday, January 27, 2024
Speaker: Leonard Dow
Most boards and leadership teams are trying to add diversity in some form. However, unless the church or non-profit is able to articulate ‘why’ they want or need diversity and are able to connect it to the mission, vision, culture, and purpose—diversity efforts may be short-lived and even detrimental. Once the foundational ‘why” is set, it will provide the means to build a life-giving, vital, kingdom building organization ready to grow and serve.
Come with members of a church or CRM board or leadership team to uncover your mission and faith led ‘why’ as well as exploring ways to get beyond the surface and develop authentic belonging on your board—where each person can bring their gifts, culture, and perspective.
Who should attend? Designed for CRM board chairs and members as well as pastors and church leadership team members
Session 2: Church Leadership: Who will lead when I am gone?
Saturday, February 24, 2024
Speaker: Nathan Good
Jesus’ first act of ministry was calling his replacements. Many church leaders today feel stuck, wondering who will replace them. How do we invite younger and more diverse voices into leadership? How are new voices given real authority and power? What stands in our path from passing the work of the kingdom to future generations?
Gather with other congregational leaders in order to learn from Scripture and one another. Nathan Good will share stories from his congregation, explain principles of succession planning, and facilitate group coaching. Be refreshed! Hear new ideas! Share! Consider how to raise up tomorrow’s leaders, today!
Who should attend? Designed primarily for pastors and church leadership teams, but members of non-profits or other organizations working to raise up a new generation of leaders are welcome.
Session 3: Everything you need to know about serving on a board
Saturday, March 16, 2024
Speaker: Guest panelists
Being asked to serve on a board or leadership team can feel like an honor but its important to know what to consider before saying yes. If it’s the first time serving on a board, there is much to learn in order to be an effective board member who understands the importance of oversight of an organization.
Come and join an interactive board session with seasoned board members designed to help attendees learn best practices and become familiar with board ‘lingo’ and expectations. Newcomers can bring their questions about how boards operate and chairs can bring their questions about how to on-board new members. Additionally, resources that provide understanding of the fundamentals of nonprofit board governance will be available.
Who should attend? Designed for those who have been asked to serve on non-profit boards or are newly serving as well as current board chairs or members who want additional resourcing for new members.
